PLEASE HELP ME!!

I have beautiful small Vriesea with pups. I have tried to cut them one by one and putthem in a small pot with water, but they are dying.. I have 4last pups on the top of the unique flower. What am I doing wrong?
Do you have any image for cutting process?...

Mother is ok, but the flower is dying. I want to use these last pups.
Could you please save it.. I love this it so much.

You've got it. Just remove the shoot with a knife or some pruners about an inch or more from the pup and the mother bromeliad. These pups should remain on the parent plant until they reach approximately 1/2 to 3/4 the size of the parent plant.

How do I know when the best time to remove the pups from the mother plant? After the bloom is finished, during, or at some other point? To cut away the pups a serrated knife should be used to make the cut at the point where pup meets the mother? Is that correct?
