Billbergia Nutans Bromeliad Flower

Probably the most commonly grown bromeliad, this will survive almost freezing temperatures if it is dry.

It flowers regularly in the spring, bearing a drooping spike of yellow-green flowers edged with blue. The stem carries several deep pink, papery bracts below the flower head. The tufted rosette is made up of about 15 grey-green, narrow, tapering leaves 1 1/2 ft (45cm) long. Offsets are produced on short stolons and root easily.
